We are committed to improving healthcare access and quality not only in Minnesota but also in underserved regions around the world. Our international outreach efforts focus on building sustainable healthcare systems, sharing knowledge, and providing essential resources to communities in need.
Global Health Alliance (GHA) is a dedicated non-profit grassroots organization based in Minneapolis, committed to enhancing healthcare access and quality for communities both locally and internationally. We are thrilled to announce our latest outreach initiative, made possible through the generous fundraising efforts from our local community and supportive partners from Canada. This initiative aims to deliver international training in Somalia, a project that promises to have profound impacts on maternal and infant health in the region.
Currently, we are training 80 healthcare providers from three regions of Somalia—Puntland, Jubaland, and Hirshabelle—in Garowe. This initiative brings together our diverse team of certified medical experts specializing in Maternal and Infant Health, who are equipped to train these providers as Master Trainers in Essential Newborn Care and Helping Mothers Survive techniques. The training incorporates valuable resources and protocols provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), the American Academy of Pediatrics, and JPIAGO to ensure the highest standards of care.
Upon completion of the training, our participants will not only gain critical knowledge but will also receive equipment to implement their learnings at local hospitals and facilities. This empowers them to pass on their expertise to colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in maternal and infant healthcare practices. By equipping these providers with the necessary tools and education, we aim to significantly reduce maternal and infant mortality and morbidity rates across their respective regions.
At Global Health Alliance, our mission is clear: we strive to provide and equip every healthcare professional with the knowledge and tools needed to enhance community health outcomes effectively. Our vision extends beyond training; we aspire to ensure that every healthcare provider and facility has the essential resources and training necessary to deliver high-quality care, ultimately improving access to health services for the Somali community.
Together, we believe that investing in the training and empowerment of local providers is key to fostering sustainable improvements in health. This outreach initiative exemplifies our commitment to creating lasting change and enhancing the well-being of mothers and infants in Somalia. We are excited about the potential outcomes of this project and look forward to witnessing the positive impact on community health as we move forward.
