Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) Training at Dalab Hospital

Background Image

On February 5, 2025, Dr. Yusuf Dirir of Global Health Alliance conducted a critical Helping Babies Breathe training at Dalab Hospital in Garowe, equipping healthcare staff with essential neonatal resuscitation skills that directly save newborn lives and improve survival rates.

This training aligns with GHA’s core mission to transform maternal and newborn health outcomes in Somalia through evidence-based education and capacity building. By training local healthcare providers in life-saving techniques, we’re strengthening the healthcare system from within and ensuring that every newborn has the best possible chance of survival.

The Helping Babies Breathe program addresses one of Somalia’s most pressing health challenges, where newborn mortality rates remain critically high. Through hands-on training and practical skill development, we’re empowering healthcare workers with the confidence and expertise needed to respond effectively during those crucial first moments of life.

This initiative represents GHA’s commitment to building local healthcare capacity while addressing immediate community needs. By training providers at facilities like Dalab Hospital, we’re creating a ripple effect that extends care to families throughout the region, ensuring that life-saving interventions become standard practice rather than exceptional care.

Our work continues to demonstrate that when healthcare providers have access to proper training and resources, they can dramatically improve outcomes for the communities they serve.
